Do you have a sore in your mouth or on your lip that just\ndoesn\u2019t seem to go away? Do you have difficulty chewing or swallowing? Is your\nmouth or throat persistently sore? These might all be signs of oral cancer.\nHowever, that doesn\u2019t have to be as scary as it sounds. When caught early, oral\ncancer in Rockledge can be easily treated. Let\u2019s talk about the stages and\nsymptoms of oral\ncancer<\/a> in more detail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Stage 0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stage 0 oral cancer means that there is a tumor, but it\u2019s\nonly growing in the epithelium, or the outermost layer of tissue in the oral\ncavity. It has not spread to any other areas. Treatment is easiest when the\ntumor is caught at this stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 1 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stage 1 means the tumor is 2 cm across or smaller. It has\nnot yet spread to any nearby structures, such as the lymph nodes. Treatment is\nstill fairly simple, as the tumor can often be removed with surgery or\nradiation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 2 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When the tumor has reached a length of between 2 and 4 cm,\nit is categorized as stage 2 oral cancer. Still no cancer cells have been found\nin any areas outside of the oral cavity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 3 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is the stage where things get a bit more complicated.\nStage 3 means that either the tumor is larger than 4 cm across, or cancer cells\nare present in at least one lymph node.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage 4 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
